The Story
A former prostitute tries to bury her past in a small town, only to find its respectable face hides something far worse.
After breaking with the life for good, Kelly arrives in Grantville, takes loving work as a nurse to disabled children, and is courted by the town's wealthy benefactor. Daring at last to believe in a clean new start, she stumbles onto a secret the whole town would rather keep buried. Samuel Fuller's startling, ahead-of-its-time melodrama opens with one of cinema's most jolting scenes.
