Kiss Me Deadly

After he picks up a terrified hitchhiker who is then tortured to death, Hammer survives the attack and starts pulling at the threads of her killing, more interested at first in the payoff than the truth. The trail of beatings and double-crosses leads him toward a mysterious locked box that everyone seems willing to die for.
