Second Chorus

Danny and Hank string out their schooling for years while chasing both swing-band glory and the clever Ellen, who becomes their manager. When bandleader Artie Shaw lures Ellen away and dangles an audition, the rivals sabotage themselves and each other through jealousy and slapstick scheming. Only when Danny finally grows up, composing and conducting a number that wins Shaw's respect while dancing through it, does he land the music career and the girl together.
